Gates Cambridge Scholarship Program

Establishment of the Gates Cambridge Scholarship Program was in October 2000 with a $210 million donation by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Cambridge; it is the biggest single donation to a UK university. in October 2001 the first class of Scholar arrived at the residence.

Each year, Gates Cambridge awards approximately more than 80 full scholarships to outstanding candidates from outside the United Kingdom for a postgraduate degree in any course available at the University of Cambridge. Nearly two-thirds of these awards are offered to graduate students, with around 25 awards available in the American round and 55 in the international round.
